Privacy Policy — Birthday Tracker & Countdown

Who We Are

Birthday Tracker & Countdown is a mobile app that helps you track birthdays and receive reminders. For questions about this policy or your data, contact us at abdelhak.ajbouni@icloud.com.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the app:

• Device identifier. We use a random identifier (or, on iOS, a device identifier) stored on your device to associate your birthday list and settings with you. We do not use this for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites.
• If you enable reminders: We store your push notification token and your device's timezone so we can send reminders at the right time (e.g., one week before, one day before, and on the birthday).
• Birthday data you add or import: Names, birth dates (month and day, and optional year), optional phone numbers, notes, and emoji. If you import from your contacts, we also store a contact ID and a flag indicating the entry was imported, so we can avoid duplicates. We do not continuously access your contacts—only when you choose to import.
• Contact data (import only). If you grant contacts permission and use the import feature, we receive the birthday-related information you select to import (name, birth date, optional phone, contact ID). We use it only to add birthdays to your list and do not sync back to your contacts.

We do not collect your name, email, or any account login. There is no sign-in; everything is tied to your device.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data above to:

• Show your birthday list, countdowns, and details in the app.
• Send push notifications at the times you've chosen (when reminders are enabled).
• Run and improve the app (e.g., storing and syncing your data).

We do not use your data for advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling to third parties for marketing.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on our backend (Convex) and may be processed in the United States or other regions where our service providers operate. Push notifications are delivered via Expo's push service. We choose providers that help us keep your data secure.

Sharing Your Data

We share data only with service providers that are necessary to run the app:

• Convex — hosts and stores your birthday data and device-related information.
• Expo Push — delivers reminder notifications to your device.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention and Deletion

We keep your data until you delete it. You can permanently delete all data for your device at any time:

1. Open the app and go to Settings.
2. Scroll to the Data section.
3. Tap Delete User Data.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. After deletion, we no longer use or retain that data for that device.

Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data by using the app (your list and settings are visible there).
• Delete your data using “Delete User Data” in Settings, as described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g., in the EU, UK, or California), such as access in a portable format or the right to correct or restrict processing. To exercise those rights, contact us at abdelhak.ajbouni@icloud.com.

Children

Birthday Countdown is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable law. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. For material changes, we may notify you in the app or on the policy page.
